FLOWER CARE

Frequently asked questions

WHAT MUST I DO TO EXTEND THE LIFE OF MY ROSES?

As soon as you receive the flower, cut 2 centimeters of the base of the stems and put them in water. Remember that you must change the water every 2 or 3 days. It is best to use non-chlorinated water. Also, the vase must be properly washed

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, IS THERE ANY SPECIAL TREATMENT TO EXTEND THE DURATION OF THE INKED FLOWER?

There is no special treatment. It is highly recommended to change the water and follow our care recommendations.

WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND TO GET THE ROSES TO BLOOM FOR A WEDDING?

If the temperature where the event is taking place is low, it is recommended to prepare the bouquet with 3 days of anticipation. The floral arrangement must have enough water, and make sure to place the flower in an open space, enough for it to bloom. In warm climates the anticipation time should be cut in half.

ARE THESE GREENHOUSE ROSES EDIBLE?

No, the edible type are those grown in a garden. Our roses our strictly decorative.

CAN THESE TYPES OF ROSES BE USED FOR FLORAL BATHS?

No, the therapeutic effect is achieved only with garden roses. Our roses are strictly decorative.

AT WHAT ALTITUDE DOES THE FLOWER GROW?

Our farm is located in Tabacundo, approximately at 2850 meters above sea level. This environment provides the perfect conditions that allow us to have roses of unique characteristics for its size, color and durability.

WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT? POST HARVESTING HIDRATION OR A GROWING SOIL FERTILIZER?

Both activities are important and complementary. Roses must be well fertilized and count with good post harvesting hydration to guarantee a long in vase life.

WHAT TYPE OF PRODUCTS DO YOU USE AND WHAT IMPACT DO THEY HAVE ON THE ENVIRONMENT?

All the products we use in our farm are friendly with the environment and to prove it we have the endorsement of Agrocalidad, which is the governmental institution for the control of agrarian products. Also, we count with important certifications from Rainforest Alliance, FlorEcudor and Ecuadorian & Green.

HOW DO YOU CONTROL THE COLD CHAIN FROM THE MOMENT OF CUT UNTIL YOU DELIVERTHE CARGO?

Post harvesting keep a temperature between the 15° and 20°C, and in is under these conditions that the flower is processed. In cold rooms, the temperture oscillates between 1° and 3° C. On the way to the cargo agency, the trucks count with the “Termo King” cooling system, which is on all the time to keep a temperture under 5° C. In this way, we ensure a cold chain that guarantees the durability of our products.

HOW MANY HOURS MUST YOU HIDRATE THE FLOWERS BEFORE PACKING IT?

95% of the water absorption of a rose happens in the first 4 hours after harvest, ergo, we make sure of hidrate them for at least 2 hours.

FOR HOW LONG DO YOU KEEP THE FLOWER IN THE COLD ROOM?

The flower can last many days in it, but to ensure our quality wekeep it for 4 days.

DO YOU LOOK FOR VARIETIES WITH CERTAIN NUMBER OF PETALS?

We look for varieties that have a good bud size, the best colors, and the opening diameter. However, there are some varieties with few petals, such as Raphaela and Forever Young, that have a good impact in the market.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO MAKE YOUR FLOWER LAST LONGER?

We take care of every little detail since the planting to the deliver in the cargo agency; we use the best available products in the market, but the most important… in every process the hands of our workers intervene. They are loyal hands who with dedication and effort , do everything in their power to ensure the quality of the best flowers in the world.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO MAKE THE BUDS OF YOUR FLOWER BIGGER?

The geographical location of the farm and the conditions of the environment are important; however, it is the care we give in every aspect of the process what makes our flowers to excel worldwide in every aspect.
